Yucatan !

Noi abbiamo soggiornato (per i tutti i giorni di Tour) nella tipica città di Mèrida (All'Hotel Hyatt, nel nord della città). Ogni sito visitato è distante più di 70 km da questa città, i viaggi nelle autostrade deserte, circondate solo dalla natura, sono un'esperienza indimenticabile.

Dopo un viaggio di circa 78 Km eccoci a quello che riteniamo il più bel sito visitato nel nostro tour: Uxmal!

We stayed (for all the days of tour) in the typical city of Merida (at the Hyatt, in the north of the city). Each site we visited is farther than 70 km from the city, traveling in the desert highways, surrounded only by nature, is an unforgettable experience. After a journey of about 78 km we arrived at what we think is the most beautiful site visited on our tour: Uxmal!

 

Come testimoniato dalla foto, anche il sito di Uxmal è patrimonio dell'umanità UNESCO.

Il sito è uno splendido esempio dello stile Puuc, tra le varie strutture sono da segnalare per bellezza: la Piramide dell'Indovino, il Quadrilatero delle Monache, il campo della pelota, il Palazzo del Governatore, La casa delle Tartarughe e la Colombaia.

Quest'ultima è una delle poche strutture che si possono ancora scalare (insieme alla Piramide di Kobà).

As witnessed by the photos, also the site of Uxmal is a UNESCO world heritage. The site is a wonderful example of the Puuc style, among other structures are to be reported for beauty Piramide del Adivino, Quadràngolo de las monjas, the field of pelota, the Governor's Palace, The House of the Turtles and the Dovecote. This last structure is one of the few pyramids on which you can get (along with the Pyramid of Koba).

Il sito è enorme e dai punti più alti si possono vedere distintamente moltissime strutture ancora da sistemare per i turisti. Il vero problema del Messico è la mancanza di fondi per il mantenimento della ricchezza archeologica. L'unico sito più curato (forse pure troppo) è quello di Tulum, che è situato nella zona più turistica, vicino a Cancun e Playa del Carmen.

Il caldo, in questo sito, si fa sentire ma fortunatamente la vegetazione concede un pò di ombra e permette di riposarsi al fresco.

The site is huge and from the highest points you can see plenty of structures still to fix and clean. The real problem in Mexico is the lack of funds for the maintenance of archaeological riches. The only site more polished (perhaps too well) is Tulum, which is located in the most touristic area, close to Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

This site it is very hot but luckily the vegetation gives a bit of shade and allow to rest in a cool place.

Mexican Heat!

Ricordo che stavamo studiando, ci siamo fermati a fantasticare sul prossimo viaggio da fare, e così, nel giro di pochi giorni abbiamo prenotato il viaggio che sognavamo fin da bambini: Messico!

8 giorni di tour nella penisola dello Yucatan, dei quali gli ultimi 3 di soggiorno balneare nello splendido Resort Catalonya Playa Maroma.

I remember we were studying, we stopped and started fantasize about the next journey together, and so, within a few days we booked the trip we dreamed about since childhood: Mexico! 8-day tour in the Yucatan peninsula, the last 3 in the beautiful seaside resort of Catalonya Playa Maroma Resort.

Le condizioni climatiche, in questo paese, non sono mai un problema. Noi siamo partiti ad inizio ottobre, teoricamente nella stagione degli uragani, ma non abbiamo avuto alcun problema. Viste le alte temperature, in Messico non piove quasi mai al mattino e a mezzogiorno si raggiungono tranquillamente i 35 gradi centigradi, mentre è piuttosto comune subire dei forti acquazzoni di pochi minuti nel pomeriggio, ma le temperature restano alte anche la notte, nel nostro viaggio le temperature non sono mai scese sotto i 18 gradi.

Ma parliamo delle bellezze di questo paese: il primo sito archeologico che abbiamo visitato è Chichén Itzà.

The climatic conditions in this country are never a problem. We did this trip in early October, theoretically the hurricane season, but there were no problems. Given the high temperatures, in Mexico it almost never rains in the morning and at noon you can reach easily 35 degrees Celsius, while it is quite common to see a few minutes of heavy rainfall in the afternoon, but temperatures remain high even at night, on our journey to the temperatures never dropped below 18 degrees. But let's speak about the beauties of this country: the first archaeological site that we visited is Chichen Itza.

Il sito di Chichén Itzà si trova nel nord della penisola. Le rovine, che si estendono su un'area di 3 km², appartenevano a una grande città che fu uno dei più importanti centri della regione. Le più famose strutture di questo sito sono la Piramide di Kukulkan (meglio nota come El Castillo), l'Osservatorio Astronomico (il Caracol) e il Tempio dei Guerrieri.

Questo sito è stato dichiarato patrimonio dell'umanità Unesco dal 1988.

Nel 2007 è stato inserito tra le sette meraviglie del mondo moderno (anche se per noi il sito più bello è quello di Uxmal, ma questo lo vedremo in un prossimo post).

The site of Chichen Itza is located in the north of the peninsula. The ruins, which cover an area of 3 square kilometers, belonged to a great city that was one of the most important centers of the region. The most famous structures of this site are the Pyramid of Kukulkan (better known as El Castillo), the Astronomical Observatory (the Caracol) and the Temple of the Warriors.This site was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988. In 2007 it was included among the seven wonders of the modern world (although for us the most beautiful site is Uxmal, but we'll see it in a next post).

Getting Lost in NYC

Ultimo post su New York e ultimo consiglio: quando avete finito tutte le visite che avevate previsto, perdetevi a Ny. Girovagate, camminate senza meta, è così che si scopre la vera New York. Ogni angolo della città può riservare mille sorprese!

Last post about New York and last advice: when you have finished all the visits that you had planned to miss NY. Stroll, walks aimlessly, that's how you discover the real New York. Every corner of the city may hold many surprises!

Il posto ideale per perdersi è Central Park! Una volta all'interno di questo magnifico parco non sembrerà più di essere all'interno di questa fantastica città.

In un angolo del parco è possibile trovare Strawberry Fields, un mosaico dedicato al grande John Lennon (Dalla canzone "Strawberry Fields Forever").

The perfect place to get lost is Central Park! Once inside this beautiful park will no longer seem to be in this fantastic city.In one corner of the park you can find Strawberry Fields, a mosaic dedicated to the great John Lennon (It is named after The Beatles song "Strawberry Fields Forever").

E' inutile dire che New York dà il suo meglio di notte.

Le luci dello skyline valgono da sole il prezzo della vacanza.

Quindi il miglior consiglio che si possa dare è perdersi di notte a Ny (magari evitando alcuni quartieri, anche se noi non abbiamo mai avuto problemi).

Needless to say, New York is more beautiful at night. The lights of the skyline alone are worth the price of the holiday. So the best advice I can give is to get lost at night in NYC (perhaps avoiding certain neighborhoods, even if we never had any problems).

Un saluto alla Statua della Libertà (prendendo il Ferry-boat gratuito che porta a Staten Island) è quasi un dovere, un segno di rispetto per questa incredibile città.

Un'ultima considerazione: un viaggio non è mai abbastanza per visitare New York.

A greeting to Statue of Liberty (taking the free Ferry-boat to Staten Island) is almost a duty, a sign of respect for this incredible city. A final consideration: one trip is never enough to visit New York.

Eating and Drinking in Nyc

Anche se non siete mai stati a New York, potete immaginare quanti locali e ristoranti si susseguono sulle tantissime strade della grande mela.

Ce ne sono per tutti i gusti e di tutte le etnie, per questo motivo non bisogna arrivare a New York impreparati, ed andare subito a colpo sicuro.

In questo post indicheremo i 3 luoghi che ci sono piaciuti di più nel nostro viaggio a Ny.

Even if you've never been to New York, you can imagine how many clubs and restaurants are on the many roads of the Big Apple. There's something for everyone, for this reason you should not get to New York City unprepared, you need to know where to go since the first day. In this post we will describe the 3 places that we liked more in our trip to NY.

Non si può andare negli Stati Uniti e non mangiare un Hamburger. Prima di partire ci eravamo informati su quali fossero i posti migliori per poterne mangiare uno dei migliori di Ny.

La scelta è caduta su J.G. Melon. Questo tipico bar è all'interno di un edificio tutto colorato di verde ed è all'apparenza molto piccolo, ma è stato davvero una sorpresa. Non c'era mai capito di aspettare 20-25 minuti in piedi in un fast-food, ma il locale era pieno, e come abbiamo scoperto in seguito, ne valeva la pena.

Gli hamburgers di J.G. Melon (1291, Third Ave in zona Upper East Side) sono stati inseriti, con grande merito, nella lista dei 10 Hamburgers da mangiare prima di morire. Se andate a Ny non potete non passare di qui.

You can not go in the U.S. and do not eat a hamburger. Before leaving Italy we looked for what were the best places to eat one of the best hamburger, NY.

The choice fell on J.G. Melon. This bar is inside a building all colored green and is apparently very small, but it was really a surprise. We waited 20-25 minutes standing in a fast food restaurant, but the restaurant was full, and as we discovered later, it was worth it. The hamburgers of J.G. Melon (1291, Third Ave in the Upper East Side) have been added, with great merit, in the list of the 10 Hamburgers to eat before you die. If you go to NY you can not pass this way.

In una delle sere più fredde della nostra permanenza a Ny ci siamo ritrovati in uno dei ristoranti più caldi ed accoglienti della città: Balthazar.

Questo ristorante, in tipico stile Boulangerie francese, necessita di prenotazione. In mancanza di questa, preparatevi ad aspettare almeno 30 min in piedi o seduti al bancone del bar. Il menu era enorme e vario, da assaggiare anche qui gli Hamburger, ma la vera specialità della casa sono le ostriche (che potete vedere in esposizione sui bellissimi stand all'interno del locale).

Veramente consigliatissimo, questo bellissimo ristorante si trova al numero 80 di Spring Street.

In one of the coldest nights of our stay in Ny we found ourselves in one of the hottest and welcoming restaurants of the city: Balthazar. This restaurant, in a typical French Boulangerie, requires booking. Without this, be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes while standing or sitting at the bar. The menu was huge and varied, to be tasted the burgers here, but the real specialty of the house are the oysters (which you can see on the beautiful display stand inside the restaurant). Really recommended, this beautiful restaurant is located at 80 Spring Street.

Come terza scelta vogliamo consigliarvi un bar. Al termine dell'orario di ufficio, moltissimi professionisti si riuniscono al 18th Floor. Il particolare nome di questo curatissimo bar è dovuto alla sua particolare posizione, per l'appunto al 18esimo piano dello Standard Hotel in zona Meatpacking District al numero 848 di Washington Street.

Qui ci sono poche parole da spendere, il bar è circondato solo da vetrate e permette di bere un drink davanti ad una delle più belle viste di Manhattan.

As a third choice we recommend a bar. At the end of office hours, a lot of professionals go to 18th Floor. The unique name of this bar is kept due to its location, precisely on the 18th floor of the Standard Hotel in the Meatpacking District on 848 Washington Street.To spend a few words, the bar is surrounded only by windows and allows you to have a drink in front of one of the best views of Manhattan.

Nyc Museums

New York non è solo luci e spettacolo, è anche arte e cultura, la città soddisfa ogni tipo d'interesse.

Al numero 1000 della Fifth Avenue si trova il Metropolitan Museum. Un'imponente edificio situato sul lato est di Central Park.

All'interno del "Met" possiamo trovare più di 2 milioni di opere d'arte.

New York is not just lights and entertainment, is also art and culture, the city meet any kind of interest. The Metropolitan Museum is located at 1000, 5th Avenue. A massive building located on the east side of Central Park. Inside the "Met" we can find more than 2 million works of art.

All'11 West 53esima (tra la 5a e la 6a strada, zona Midtown Manhattan) strada troviamo uno dei musei più famosi di New York: il MoMa, Museo d'arte moderna.

L'interno del museo stesso è un'opera d'arte.

All'interno del museo, tra i vari artisti possiamo trovare: Van Gogh ed Andy Warhol.

11 West 53rd (between 5th and 6th Street, Midtown Manhattan) we find one of the most famous museums in New York: MoMA, Museum of Modern Art.The interior of the museum itself is a work of art.

Inside the museum, among other artists, we find: Van Gogh and Andy Warhol.

 

A metà di Central Park West (esattamente dall'altra lato di Central Park rispetto al Metropolitan) troviamo il bellissimo American Museum of Natural History, famoso per essere anche lo sfondo del famoso film "Una notte al Museo" con Ben Stiller.

All'interno dinosauri e ogni razza esistente o estinta di animali. Da vedere, in particolare, il salone della Balena.

In the middle of Central Park West (the opposite site of Metropolitan Museum) we find the beautiful American Museum of Natural History, famous for being the background of the famous movie "Night at the Museum" starring Ben Stiller. Inside the museum we can find dinosaurs and every every animal that ever existed.

Living Manatthan

La Grande Mela offre mille distrazioni e noi ce l'abbiamo messa tutta per non mancare neanche un appuntamento. Abbiamo corso la Maratona, visto una partita Nba dei New York Knicks e ci siamo fatti travolgere dall'incredibile spettacolo de "Il Re Leone" al Minskoff Theatre, tra le mille luci di Broadway.

The Big Apple offers a thousand distractions, and we have it tried hard not to miss even one appointment. We ran the Marathon, saw a New York Knicks NBA Game and we were overwhelmed by the incredible spectacle ​​of "The Lion King" at the Minskoff Theatre, among the bright lights of Broadway.

Inutile dire che tutti questi eventi non sono propriamente gratis purtroppo.. 

Se vorrete mai un giorno partecipare alla Maratona, l'iscrizione va fatta con un notevole anticipo (i pettorali finiscono in fretta) e più o meno, la spesa è di 300 euro.

Per quanto riguarda la partita Nba i prezzi variano chiaramente in base al posto che avete scelto all'interno del Madison Square Garden, si va da circa 30 dollari fino ad oltre i 1000 per i posti a bordo campo.

Per lo spettacolo a Broadway infine la spesa è di circa 100 dollari.

Needless to say that all these events are not really free, unfortunately.. If you want to run the Marathon, registration must be completed with a significant advance and the cost is about $ 300. For the NBA game the prices vary according to place you have chosen at the Madison Square Garden, it ranges from $ 30 up to over 1000 for places on the sideline. For the show on Broadway costs about $ 100.

Purtroppo, nonostante l'opinione delle agenzie viaggi, due settimane sono davvero poche per poter assaporare ogni aspetto di questa incredibile città. Ma con molta determinazione, e tanta voglia di camminare, si possono fare tranquillamente molte delle esperienze tipiche newyorkesi, esperienze che cercheremo di descrivervi con i prossimi post.


Unfortunately, despite the advice of travel agents, two weeks are very few to enjoy every aspect of this incredible city. But with a lot of determination, and a great desire to walk, you can easily do many of the typical New York experiences, experiences that we will try to describe in the next posts.

Empire State of Mind

New York! Un progetto lungo un anno. 

Abbiamo visitato la Grande Mela nel mese di Novembre, nel periodo della famosissima Maratona.

Abbiamo alloggiato all'Hotel Hampton Inn Times Square South, un hotel di 19 piani al 337 West 39th Strada.

New York! A year-long project. We visited the Big Apple in November in the period of famous Marathon.We stayed at the Hampton Inn Times Square South Hotel, a 19-story hotel, 337 West 39th Street.

La città ti travolge con i suoi mille odori e rumori, è impossibile non guardare i maestosi grattacieli dello skyline newyorkese. Nonostante la metropolitana tocchi qualsiasi punto della città, il modo migliore per visitarla è farsi un bella passeggiata.

The city overcomes you with its thousands of smells and noise, it's impossible not to watch the majestic skyscrapers of New York skyline. Despite the underground touch any part of the city, the best way to see it make a nice walk.

Passeggiando a New York si ha la netta sensazione che girando l'angolo o cambiando incrocio, si possa trovare qualsiasi cosa. Inutile dire che un giro nel tipico Taxi newyorkese è d'obbligo.

While walking in New York you have the clear feeling that turning the corner, you can find anything. Needless to say, a typical taxi ride inNew York is a must.
