Per finire la nostra splendida vacanza abbiamo voluto visitare i tre monumenti simbolo di Londra: House of Parliament con Big Ben, Tower Bridge e Tower of London.

Abbiamo visitato la mitica torre dell'orologio in una tipica giornata londinese, ma la pioggia non ci ha fermato, la visita al monumento dedicato a Santo Stefano non poteva certo mancare.

To end our wonderful holiday we wanted to visit the three landmarks of London: Houses of Parliament with Big Ben, Tower Bridge and Tower of London.

We visited the legendary clock tower in a typical London day, but the rain hasn't stopped us, we couldn't miss visiting the monument dedicated to Santo Stefano.

L'ultimo giorno abbiamo visitato il Tower Bridge e la Tower of London, si trovano lievemente fuori dal centro, e chiaramente sul fiume, ma una salto ad ammirare questi pezzi di storia londinese ne vale la fatica.

The last day we visited the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, they are slightly outside the center, and clearly on the river, but a jump to see these pieces of London history it's worth the effort.

New Year's Day

La sera di capodanno i londinesi si raccolgono sulle sponde del Tamigi per assistere allo strabiliante spettacolo dei fuochi d'artificio. Il freddo era particolarmente pungente (tant'è che, quasi magicamente, allo scoccare della mezzanotte, Londra ha dato il benvenuto al nuovo anno con una abbondante nevicata), ma ne è valsa la pena, l'atmosfera era davvero unica.

On New Year's eve Londoners gather on the banks of the Thames to watch the amazing spectacle of fireworks. The cold was very pungent (infact, almost magically, at the stroke of midnight, London has welcomed the New Year with a heavy snowfall), but it was worth it, the atmosphere was truly unique.

I fuochi d'artificio sono iniziati allo scoccare della mezzanotte e sono durati a lungo. L'organizzazione è stata perfetta, soprattutto nel garantire la sicurezza delle persone in una situazione che era veramente caotica. E' stato garantito un servizio gratuito di trasporto tramite metropolitana, anch'essa continuamente monitorata dalla polizia, così dopo pochi minuti, siamo riusciti a tornare all'hotel senza problemi.

The fireworks started at midnight and lasted a long time. The organization was perfect, especially in ensuring the safety of persons in a situation that was really chaotic. It 'was guaranteed a free transportation by subway, which was also continuously monitored by the police, so after a few minutes, we were able to return to the hotel without any problems.

Il primo gennaio non potete perdervi la parata su Regent Street. Tutte le scuole della città, bande musicali, associazioni, polizia e pompieri partecipano all'evento. Da segnalare, per gli amanti delle automobili, la parata delle mini minor.

In questa piccola stradina vicino a Regent Street si possono trovare negozi di tutti i tipi, dall'abbigliamento agli accessori, dai vinili alle candele.

For those who like fashion shopping, the latest trends are in Carnaby Street. This trendy little corner is a must for those who like to keep up with the times. In this small street just off Regent Street you can find shops of all kinds,from clothes to accessories, from vinyls to candles.

Infine per gli appassionati di mercatini: Portobello Road, nel romantico quartiere di Notting Hill. Per chi se lo fosse già chiesto, la famosa porta blu del film, gioca a nascondino con i turisti, trovarla è impossibile, è stata sostituita. Mentre è ancora lì, al 13 di Blenheim Crescent, il "The Travel Bookshop" dove lavorava il protagonista nel film.

Il mercato di Portobello Road è il mercato di Londra per eccellenza, famoso in tutto il mondo per oggetti d'arte e antiquariato. Vale la pena farci un salto indipendentemente dagli acquisti.

London Museums

Il nostro diario di viaggio continua con le giornate dedicate ai tre grandi musei principali di Londra, British Museum, Natural History Museum e National Gallery.

Se passate una settimana a Londra non potete proprio mancare questi tre appuntamenti. Questi tre musei sono completamente gratis, non è necessario il pagamento del biglietto d'ingresso, solo alcune mostre temporanee sono a pagamento. Noi abbiamo deciso di dividere le tre visite in tre giorni differenti, tenendo conto che British Museum e Natural History Museum ti riempiono la giornata.

Our journey diary continues with the "Museum Days", our visits to the big three London Museum: British Museum, Natural History Museum and National Gallery.

If you're willing to spend a week in this city, you definitely can't miss these three great appointments. These three museums are completely free is not necessary to pay the ticket, just some temporary exhibitions are to be paid.

We decided to split the three visits in different days, imaging that both the British Museum and the Natural History Museum would have keep us busy all day.

British Museum! Su Cromwell Road si trova uno dei musei più belli al mondo, contiene delle opere di inestimabile valore, tra le quali la famosissima Stele di Rosetta, la pietra che permise di decifrare molti geroglifici egiziani. Tra le altre opere si possono trovare le sculture originali del Partenone.

British Museum! On Cromwell Road you can find one of the most beautiful museums in the world, it contains priceless works, including the famous Rosetta Stone, which allowed to decipher Egyptian hieroglyphics. Among the other works you can find the original sculptures of the Parthenon.

Il National History Museum è uno dei più grandi ed importanti musei di storia del mondo.

Si trova in Great Russell Street, e contiene circa 6 milioni di pezzi, tra i quali possiamo trovare scheletri di dinosauri e le sale dedicate a tutte le razze di animali esistiti ed esistenti.

Fortunatamente all'interno del museo ci sono dei ristoranti che permettono di passare tranquillamente tutta la giornata all'interno di questo splendido edificio.

The British Museum is one of the largest and most important history museums in the world.

It is located in Great Russell Street, and contains about 6 million pieces, among which we find dinosaur skeletons and rooms devoted to all breeds of animals have existed and exist.

Inside the museum there are restaurants that allow you to move easily in this beautiful building throughout the day.

Questo incredibile museo situato su Trafalgar Square contiene capolavori appartenenti ai più brillanti artisti della storia. Tra le opere, sono da vedere assolutamente, i Girasoli di Van Gogh, ma anche le opere di Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Monet, Renoir e Cézanne.

This incredible museum is located on Trafalgar Square contains masterpieces from the most brilliant artists in history. Among the works are worth seeing, the "Sunflowers" by Van Gogh, but also the works of Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Monet, Renoir and Cezanne.

Unfortunately, within this museum you can not take pictures.

Cominciamo la nostra avventura da Blogtrotters condividendo le esperienze che abbiamo accumulato in questi ultimi anni. Cominciamo con la nostra avventura a Londra! Siamo stati in questa spendida città a Capodanno 2010 e vi assicuriamo che è un'esperienza da vivere assolutamente.

Let's start our Blogtrotting adventure sharing the experiences we accumulated in the past few years. Let's start with our London adventure! We went to this beautiful city on 2010 new year's day, and we guarantee you that this is an absolute experience.

Abbiamo alloggiato al Crowne Plaza St. James, a pochi passi da Buckingham Palace. Fortunatamente il clima è stato clemente e allora siamo subito andati a trovare la nostra vicina di casa.

We stayed at Crowne Plaza St. James, near Buckingham Palace. Luckily the weather was good so we immediately visited our neighbour, her Majesty, the Queen.

Il pomeriggio, una passeggiatina a Green Park, proprio davanti al palazzo della regina, da perfetti londinesi. 

In the afternoon, a little walk in Green Park, just in front of Buckingham Palace, like perfect londoners!
